MD Anderson Cancer Center Senior Community Relations Specialist - Sugar Land in Sugar Land, Texas

We currently have a Senior Community Relations Specialist opportunity that is responsible for integrating MD Anderson's Houston area locations into the local markets by establishing and maintaining strong relationships with local non-profit, civic and business organizations, healthcare groups, and other community constituents. This individual will focus on implementing activities and coordinating charitable sponsorships to increase awareness of MD Anderson services offered in assigned markets.
1. Relationship building. Establishes and maintains strong relationships inside and outside the institution on behalf of assigned territories. Represents Houston area locations within local associations and at events, including but not limited to local Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development Councils, Rotaries, etc., using such opportunities to increase community knowledge of MD Anderson. Works closely with administrative directors to identify appropriate community representation. Attains strong knowledge base of all MD Anderson programs and services in order to effectively cross-sell and represent the institution to all community constituents. Communicates regularly with regional faculty and staff to enhance employee engagement in community events. Maintains familiarity with institutional brand and editorial standards to ensure internal and external stakeholders are compliant.
2. Event coordination. Coordinates all logistics for sponsored events in assigned markets. Conducts collaborative and/or independent community programs that showcase MD Anderson's resources and expertise. Identifies appropriate faculty and staff to participate in community events, and secures and supervises program volunteers as recruited. Plans and implements community events and programs for assigned territories. Collaborates with the Community Services team to secure appropriate staff for local speaking requests and exhibit opportunities. Identifies new opportunities in assigned markets that align with annual work plan and institutional priorities.
3. Program measurement and evaluation. Contribute to the development and implementation of an annual comprehensive work plan. Assists with development of program objectives and outcome measurement. Maintains Salesforce records to track events, document networking activities, and monitor outcomes. Completes monthly Salesforce reports. Assesses outcomes for each event and activity to make recommendations for continuing or eliminating. Make recommendations for updating program policies and procedures.
4. Other duties as assigned. Participates in Community Relations and Education programs/initiatives; performs administrative and other duties as assigned. Assists in the recruitment of Houston area location staff for participation in the Ambassador program. Attends required staff meetings, trainings and other activities, and regularly attends interdisciplinary rounds at assigned territories. Assist with monitoring sponsored event budget. Attends professional development trainings/workshops. Assists manager and other Community Relations and Education staff as needed.
Salary Range: Minimum $59,600 - Midpoint $74,500 - Maximum $89,400
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Health Education or related degree.
Required Experience: Five years experience in community relations, health education and/or community outreach activities.
