This position will reside at the Virginia Harris Cockrell Cancer Research Center located in Smithville, Texas.

Salary Range: $18,800(min) $23,500(mid) $28,200(max)

SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Building Attendant I position is to perform all necessary cleaning and housekeeping tasks within an area of assignment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs a variety of cleaning tasks. Inspects area of assignment to determine needs and satisfactory completion of tasks. Understands information on chemical labels and dispenses the proper amount/dilution of water for cleaning. Records areas cleaned on daily report and turns in to Supervisor. Performs basic and routine cleaning needs. Maintains equipment in a satisfactory manner. Removes trash, non-hazardous waste, and recycling. May perform floor care duties to include cleaning, scrubbing, buffing, stripping, waxing and burnishing floors.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Custodial Duties

Performs custodial duties in research labs and common use areas of assigned buildings according to Building Procedures List. Removes trash, special non-hazardous waste, and recycling from assigned areas. Assists with custodial duties in other building/areas as requested by supervisor or as needed in absence of other team members. Demonstrates ability to follow all policies and procedures as instructed. Demonstrates reliability, dependability and willingness to assist. Shows up for work on time and ready to perform assigned tasks. Takes breaks as assigned, works in assigned areas, and completes assigned tasks in allotted time. Receives and implements instruction for changed work assignments. Follows all safety precautions, and ensures knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job.

Work Area, Equipment, and Supply Stock Maintenance

Maintains cleaning supply stock in assigned building. Maintains equipment, work area, and janitor closet in appropriate manner.

Conference and Event Setup

Performs setup and cleaning duties for conferences, seminars, events, and other special functions.

Special or Periodic Assistance

Assist when necessary in larger or special team housekeeping projects. Other duties as assigned.
