MD Anderson Cancer Center - Katy location is seeking a Medical Assistant for their Breast Surgery service.

MD Anderson provides medical oncology, radiation oncology and surgical oncology services along with a range of supportive programs at all of its Greater Houston area locations. While the Katy campus treats all types of cancers, the faculty here has particular expertise in the diagnosis, treatment and management of the following cancers: Breast, Colorectal, Dermatology and skin, Endocrine, Genitourinary, Gynecologic, Head and neck, Neurologic, and Thoracic.
Ideal candidate will have one year of Medical Assistant experience and will be a certified or registered Medical Assistant. Experience preferably in an ambulatory setting.
$28,800 - $36,000 - $43,200
This position is will be located in West Houston. In addition to normal Medical Assistant duties, this position will involve administrative activities such as heavy scheduling and coordination of care for the breast surgery patients with community hospitals. The primary purpose of the Medical Assistant position is to provide patient care and customer service assistance to the ambulatory care patient as delegated and support daily operations of the center.
Assists with patient examinations, treatments and procedures. Prepares / stocks rooms and escorts patients to rooms. Obtains vital signs and prepares patients for physician's care. Documents in the medical record patient care entries and completed lab work. Reviews and sorts incoming lab results and forwards reports for review. Collects laboratory specimens and performs waived laboratory testing (such as finger stick glucose and EKG tests). Provides transportation of patients for discharge or transfer to other areas in the hospital. Must position, lift and move patients as needed. Cleans, stores, prepares and coordinates maintenance of medical equipment. Maintains inventories of laboratory and medical supplies. Processes all required paperwork. Instructs patients as to test preparations according to planned procedure.
High school diploma/equivalent.
Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or US Military medical services training program.
One year of medical assistant experience.
With preferred degree, no experience is required.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Certified or eligible to be certified by one of the following based on Medical Assistant experience or preferred education: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
