SUMMARY
Provides technical support to the Institutional Tissue Bank in the preparation and procurement of human research materials. Impacts patient care through clinical and research procurement of human tissue.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Protocol and Clinical Trials Manages research study needs as defined in protocols and clinical trials. Responsibilities include collecting and evaluating patient/specimen samples submitted to the biorespository from clinical and research entities across the United States.
Database Maintenance Establishes a system for tracking, processing, and monitoring the research program operations and protocols that are utilizing the services of the biorepository.
Compliance and Regulations 1. Participates and contributes to the institutional and external compliance efforts necessary for the clinical trials and laboratory processes.
- Procures pathology material and maintains data according to mandatory standards and protocol compliance. Processes, organizes, and schedules samples for distribution to other internal laboratories, including histology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular, as well as external testing facilities.
Laboratory Liaison 1. Serves as liaison between laboratory personnel, clinical and research investigators, collaborating institutions and the national biorepository Coordinating Center.
Provides guidance to clinical research staff, research nurses, and principal investigators at other institutions on how to complete sample submissions in compliance with the stated guidelines.
Orients laboratory and support staff to the biorepository operations.
High school diploma or equivalent. Education Preferred: Associate's degree. Three years of medical or laboratory research experience. With preferred degree, one year of required experience.
