Ideal candidate will have Building Automation System (BAS) competencies - either Siemens or Tridium, however any exposure to a BAS system is a plus. TCEQ Class D License.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30AM - 3:00PM, DAY SHIFT

Summary

The primary purpose of the Senior Stationary Engineer position is to provide skilled work in the operation of the central chilled water and steam system power plant. Monitor and maintain the central chilled water, steam power plant and related equipment, to include repairs and preventive maintenance for all associated equipment and systems. In capacitance as Lead Tech, this position is responsible for organizing daily work schedules and ensuring effective communication between front line Stationary Engineering staff and Supervisor, Utilities Operations.

Performs preventative maintenance, correctives and inspections on electric/steam boilers, chillers, cooling towers and associated pumps. Start up, coordinate equipment run scenarios, and monitor/troubleshoot chillers, towers and boilers via BAS system. Perform chemistry analysis, make necessary adjustments, data gathering and condition assessments on cooling tower, chilled water and boiler feed water. Perform testing, chemical treatment and preventative maintenance/correctives for Public Drinking Water System and associate assets. Cleans and maintains all equipment and work areas. Responds to and triages critical equipment alarms and makes repairs as necessary. Coordinates regulatory inspections by external agencies. Coordinates work. May order materials and maintain inventory. Participates in the development of the "Owners Design Guidelines", project design phases and review processes. Inspects contracted work to ensure repairs and installations are compliant. Functions as a point of contact for vendors. Prepares and submits reports. Participates in process improvement initiatives. May precept staff.

High school diploma or equivalent. Six years of experience working with boiler systems, chiller/cooling towers, and/or water treatment systems in a large central physical plant.

Preferred: Texas Medical Center location requires First Grade Licensed Stationary Engineer as issued by the City of Houston and a valid Texas Driver's License. Universal Refrigerant Technician certificate.

HVAC experience, Centrifugal Chiller experience, HVAC License.

TCEQ Class D license.

Working Conditions

Will require mobility throughout all facilities including stairs and confined spaces. Will be required to reach items and areas not easily accessible by means of climbing, stooping, and bending. Must be able to work in a dusty and/or hot environment with exposure to hot/humid outdoor environments over 90 degrees for up to 4 hours at a time. Some work maybe in very cramped and unpleasant surroundings. Will require heavy lifting (more than 50 lbs.). Will require proper coordination and motor skills to work with power/hand tools as required.
