Instructing and assessing clinical courses and some didactic instruction and coordinating the clinical educational setting in the Diagnostic Imaging for SHP students in the School of Health Professions is the responsibility of the Sr Health Professions Educator.
Ins truction of SHP Diagnostic Imaging (DI) students
Directs, manages and evaluates student learning in the clinical setting. Evaluates the students ' development of critical thinking skills. Directly observes and guides students' learning activities in the clinic sites. Evaluates students in clinic as related to Joint Review Committee in Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) program outcomes. Collaborates with the radiology manager, supervisor and staff so that the presence of students and their activities are supportive of the department's goals and needs. Assists the students in integration of theory and practice, specific to the course's learning activities and the level of the learner. Available at all times while the students are in the clinical setting.
Clinical coordination for SHP DI students
Provides timely and ongoing feedback to the program director regarding individual student and group performance in the accomplishment of the clinical courses outcomes. Provides feedback to the program director regarding the clinical settings' effectiveness in supporting student accomplishment of the course and program outcomes. Serves as liaison between the clinical setting and the Diagnostic Imaging Program. Provides presentations and publications to educators, students, peers and healthcare professionals and the community during seminars and conferences organized by the program director.
Administrative coordination for SHP DI students
Create and coordinate student clinical education rotation schedules and enforce policies. Develop written course syllabi and learning objectives for clinical education. Maintain the program clinical handbook and clinical policies and provide updates as necessary. Maintain the radiography Trajecsys clinical database and DI shared drive. Maintain and update students' clinical records for the sophomore and junior year students. Maintain and update the clinical instructors' database for JRCERT.
Required: Bachelor's degree.
Required: Three years of relevant experience. May substitute additional experience for required education on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Five years of clinical teaching experience in radiography. Currently working with students in X-ray procedures.
