MD Anderson Cancer Center Sr EHR Application Analyst (Epic) -EHR Analytics & Reporting in Houston, Texas

The Sr EHR Application Analyst performs and participates in the development, review and finalization of metrics, reports and dashboards for executives as well as business and clinical operations. Report and Analysis Development activities include feasibility, analysis, design, metadata development, report writing, testing, documentation, and implementation. In addition, he/she will provide support and maintenance of existing Epic Metrics, Dashboards, Reporting and Analytics out of Hyperspace & Clarity.

*In order to be adequately prepared and trained to build, test and optimize the Epic system, MDA requires that Epic certification be obtained within 120 days of completion of the assigned, required training classes. Required certifications must be maintained as assigned.*

Implementation/ Optimization

  1. Accountable for install decisions related to assigned application

  2. Accountable for pre-live risk mitigation planning

  3. Analysis of EPIC model content and negotiation of any user requested modifications

  4. Populating databases for which they may or may not be the owner during the initial system build, with assistance from Epic staff

  5. Understanding choices in application specifications and sharing that information with other anlaysts on the team

  6. Investigating the preferred choices of the users

  7. Analyzing data conversion needs

  8. Preparing details of specifications as needed

  9. Supporting trainers during user training

  10. Input to project plan throughout the course of the implementation to insure major milestones are met and appropriate project tracking is accurate

  11. Timely input of weekly time tracking and project tracking data

  12. Responding to Epic's technical questions as needed

  13. Having an indepth understanding of both the clinical and business workflows to achieve strategic outcomes for the implementation

  14. May or may not be responsible for leading other analysts within the team

Support/ Content Management

  1. Modification of EPIC content as prescribed by project team

  2. Working with users on the sharing of data, category lists, etc

  3. Create and document policies and procedures

  4. Troubleshooting problems or questions from users

  5. Prioritizing and implementing changes requested for the system

  6. Coordinating software updates and changes with users

  7. Thoroughly reviewing and testing each new release and communicating needed changes to Epic before users are permitted to access the new release

  8. Collecting information regarding potential system enhancement needs

  9. Maintaining rules for how each new version is released

  10. Analyzing new functionality in new releases to determine whether or how it should be used

Education Required:

Bachelor's degree.

Certification Required:

None

Preferred Certification:

Epic application build certification and experience.

Experience:Required:

Five years of Epic software/domain/workflow analysis/design/programming/project management/EHR application related experience. May substitute required education with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis or completed years of college on a one to one basis.

Preferred Experience:

A strong candidate will have a high proficiency SQL, 2+ years in custom Epic metric build experience and Radar Dashboards, as well as Web Intelligence report build. He/she will also have expertise on the Clarity data model and a good working knowledge of how the application(s) collect and store data. He/she will have the ability to effectively analyze reporting needs with the report consumers and determine the best fit analytics solution for the consumer based on business need.
