MD Anderson Cancer Center Senior Instrumentation Technician - Building Automation Systems in Houston, Texas

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm

Ideal candidate will have Journeyman/Master Electrician license and Building Automation Systems experience.

Maintain, Repair and Troubleshoot:

  • Performs functions on live circuits and in operating controls enclosures. May install, troubleshoot and repair 120, 208, 240 and 480 volt controls and equipment per NEC guidelines.

  • Skilled in practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of electronic technician trade:

  • Skilled in the used of the following tools/calibrating instruments: thermocouple calibrator, resistance temperature, detector calibrator, voltage and current generator, multi-meters, and decade resistance box.

  • Maintain and repair typical building electronic, electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems.

  • Install, calibrate, and check assigned systems using manual dexterity, hand tools, and visual ability.

  • Examine and test mechanisms and circuitry for defects.

  • Run conduit, pull wire, and install circuits for electrically powered units.

  • Maintain/repair/calibrate HVAC systems to include air handling units, fan coil units, terminal boxes, dampers, thermostats sensors, control valves, and associated HVAC equipment.

  • Troubleshoot equipment in or out of control systems, and replace or repair defective components:

  • Requisition material.

  • Ability to program microprocessors for initial commissioning and tune operating controls.

  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job.

  • Reads, draws and interprets electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) schematics, one line diagrams and control sequence of operations. Coordinates and prioritizes the workflow of technicians. Investigates outages. Participates in the development of the "Owners Design Guidelines", project design phases and review processes. Inspects contracted instrumentation work to ensure repairs and installations are compliant. Functions as a point of contact for vendors. Prepares and submits reports. Participates in process improvement initiatives. May precept staff.

Provide complete information to accuratly document corrective action, labor hour, and materials used on work orders:

  • Timely communication to supervisor of any other issues encourtered during the performance of work.

  • Emergency responses

Emergency responses for facilities including code red

Required Experience:

Eight years of electronic, building automated systems and pneumatic controls experience to include two years of electrical experience. With Journeyman Electrician's license, six years of electronic, building automated systems and pneumatic controls experience to include one year of electrical experience.
