The Senior Communications Specialist, Internal Communications, will develop, implement and manage institutional internal communications programs and projects through news writing, reporting and editing, as well as provide services that include consulting and developing strategies, plans and products to advance the goals and activities for functions within business and regulatory areas.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Communications Program Strategies and Consulting Successfully develops, manages and consults on internal communications projects and programs for business and regulatory areas. Consults, develops, implements and manages communications strategies, plans and products to advance the goals and activities of people and business operations, which may include human resources, regulatory and other functions within. Routinely meets face-to-face with client leadership and key customers, and is available for consultation when needed. The role includes collaboration with customers, team members, designers/printers, and other resources to create print, online and broadcast materials.
Institutional Communications Program Management Manages specific internal communications programs for the institution, including forums, consortiums, employee podcasts, presentations and other programs, as assigned. Tracks, analyzes and measures success of communications, provides status reports, and proactively identifies and solves potential problems.
Writing and Editing Clear, consistent writing and editing in all work products. Command of Associated Press Style, as well as MD Anderson style. Proactively tracks down new story ideas. Regular contributions to our publications (Messenger, Employee Notes, etc.) and our programs and services through articles, memos, presentations, videos, scripts, slides, fliers and other materials.
Required: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field.
Preferred: Master's degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field.
Required: Four years of experience in public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field. With preferred degree, two years of required experience.
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
