MD Anderson Cancer Center Senior Communications Designer in Houston, Texas
Reporting to the program manager, Creative Communications, the focus of this position is professional design support for the institution's philanthropic fundraising initiatives. The job requires excellent interpersonal skills to tactfully interact with high-profile donors. Must function with high levels of productivity, ensuring that multiple jobs on tight deadlines are handled efficiently and on time. Must possess the ability to work independently but to also take creative direction and collaborate as part of a team.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
Plans and develops creative concepts and designs a variety of visual communications materials for constituents in the Development division, including collateral for major fundraising and cultivation/stewardship events, fundraising brochures, direct mail, publications and newsletters, donor directories, donor reports, presentations, and digital projects, e.g., social media and web graphics.
As needed, provides visual design support for organizational communication initiatives.
Consults with clients, counsels on brand standards and delivers turn-key professional designs that strictly adhere to MD Anderson's visual identity.
Art Direction and Production
Works with printing professionals and conducts press checks as needed.
Serves as liaison between clients and vendors.
Schedules and directs photo shoots as needed.
Contributes to production of Promise magazine: attends planning meetings, works closely with editors and writers, develops creative layouts, designs and facilitates production of this donor publication.
Strategic Brand Support and Counseling
Possesses thorough knowledge of brand policies and standards.
Provides support and information to internal and external customers related to brand inquiries and requests.
Manages brand-specific promotional vendor communications. Routinely attends key customer meetings and is available for consultation, as needed.
Required: Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field.
Required: Five years of experience in graphic design, public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field.
May substitute required degree with additional years of equivalent experience or education on a one to one basis.
