The mission of the Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology is to reduce the morbidity and mortality of genitourinary cancers for the benefit of our patients and for future generations. Our clinical care is based on research into the biology of genitourinary tumors. With a clearer understanding of the biologic behavior of genes, molecules, and cells that are responsible for the formation and growth of these tumors, we have been able to develop treatments tailored to the individual patient. The Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology is at the leading edge of research to identify important biologic markers to help us determine which patients are at greatest risk of advanced disease and metastasis.

The ideal candidate must have at least five years of registered nursing experience to included two years of research nursing experience and two years of supervisory experience.

Salary Range: Min- $102,400 Mid- $128,000 Max- $153,600

Essential Job Functions-

Manages assigned research staff, funds and operations. Develops and administers policies and procedures. Develops and administers a strategic plan to manage departmental protocol activity. Ensures that appropriate personnel are in place before new research projects and/or protocols are implemented. Assesses departmental protocols for acuity and /or patient complexity to incorporate in staffing and training needs. Develops strategies to promote enrollment of diverse patient populations. Develops and monitors staff compliance with education and training requirements. Manages and evaluates the clinical services delivered by research personnel for multiple research protocols. Ensures the review and completion of departmental budget contracts. Directs departmental research staff in appropriate methods for managing protocol-related costs and charge recapture and provides quality assurance for the charge process. Maintains and ensures knowledge of the research process and resources available in compliance with institutional policies, IRB and federal regulations. Assures excellence of clinical practice and patient care services through care delivery that is in accordance with federal, state and professional standards, policies and procedures.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.

Preferred: Master's of Science in Nursing.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Five years of registered nursing experience to included two years of research nursing experience and two years of supervisory experience. Required degree may be substituted for experience as a MDACC Research Nurse Supervisor on a one-to-one basis.

Preferred: Master's of Science in Nursing.

Licensure/Certification

Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN).
