SALARY RANGE $46,000 - $57,500 - $69,000

This position will support research activities in Vidya Gopalakrishnan's laboratory, more specifically this position will manage a very large animal colony and conduct a variety of experiments involving research animals.

SUMMARY

Applies technical expertise and experience to coordinate, design and carry out research projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Research Design and Implementation: Plan, revise and execute experiments designed to further the aims of the assigned research project. These experiments will require expertise in animal research, animal surgery, molecular biology, and immunohistochemistry and immunology techniques.

Publications, Manuscripts and Presentations: Analyze data from experiments in the preparation of publications to include abstracts for presentation at internal and external meetings and manuscripts for submission to scientific journals.

Mentorship and Training: Train assigned personnel in scientific techniques, laboratory safety, equipment operation and maintenance. Personnel may include students, postdoctoral fellows and other classified research staff. Design and implement quality assurance.

EDUCATION

Required Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.

Preferred Master's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Required Five years of experience in scientific or experimental research work. With preferred degree, three years of required experience.
