SUMMARY -

The primary purpose of the Research Assistant I position is to assist in the data acquisition and processing of iThera MSOT imaging data for funded studies of breast and ovarian cancer. Basic animal handling to perform imaging studies will also be required. The successful applicant for this position will require knowledge of basic data processing with MATLAB to assist with analysis of small-animal imaging experiments.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES -

Perform in vivo imaging with the iThera MSOT imaging system. Process and analyze iThera MSOT data using proprietary iThera software and custom MATLAB code. Perform phantom imaging experiments for the purpose of QA assessment.

Research Studies The data generated are to be presented as routine progress reports. These reports should include his/her findings as well as those made by any support personnel which may be assigned to work with them. The progress reports done are to be structured in the way which facilitates their understanding and should be concise and to the point. The rationale for the accomplished work should be clearly articulated, the experiments are to be briefly described and their details should be readily available upon request by the faculty.

Administrative. Reviews, evaluates and correlates research data. Read scientific articles to familiarize oneself with basic preclinical imaging practices and more specific photoacoustic imaging techniques/theory. Prepares drafts manuscripts, and grant reports. Maintain a basic knowledge of the operation of laboratory equipment and keep current records of experimental procedures for future publications.

Required Degree: Bachelor's degree, major course work in one of the basic sciences.

Preferred Experience: referred Experience: The successful applicant will have prior experience in coding, mapping, and alignment of medical images and in image registration; experience with anatomical contouring of medical images, algorithm training and deployment, and algorithm evaluation; and have familiarity with radiation treatment planning systems and image manipulation. Knowledge of basic data processing with MATLAB, and basic animal handling experience.
