MD Anderson Cancer Center Research Assistant II in Houston, Texas

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.

Provides clinical and coordination skills in carrying out various clinical research projects. Impacts clinical research activities throughout the institution

KEY FUNCTIONS:

1) Research Projects: (30%)

a. Help design clinical research protocols

b. Collect clinical data related to research projects

c. Assist in writing, editing and submitting abstracts, manuscripts and other presentations related to clinical research projects

2) Data Collection: (50%)

a. Procure data from the Sr. Program Analyst for research studies

b. Enter data into department database

c. Maintain study records. Collect and organize information for project reports, evaluate data in accordance with methods requested, maintain a complete and accurate inventory of data

3) Resourcefulness on research literature: (20%)

a. Search research medical literature and share and discuss with the principal investigator

b. Read literature and confer with principal investigator regarding new procedures/methods and provide recommendations according to the needs of the project

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor's degree with major course works in one of the basic sciences.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Two years experience in scientific or experimental research work. No experience required with preferred degree.
