For individuals able to function both under direct supervision and independently and who have interest in tissue based assays including gene-expression profiling and genomic assays, developing and maintaining human cancer cell and tissue cultures, transgenic and knockout mouse models and the technical skills to assist in utilization and maintenance of laboratory equipment including confocal microscope, mass spectrometer, fluorescence plate readers, cell and tissue culture incubators, and other common laboratory equipment.
Conducts tissue based experiments including tissue extraction and preparations, RNA library preparation and gene expression profiling, and maintaining data sets related to these studies.
Conducts and/or assists researchers during small animal surgeries, injections and experiments (including murine xenografts models both under supervision of researcher and independently) and contribute to cellular and tissue imaging both in vitro , ex vivo and in vivo .
Maintains cancer cell and tissue culture, performs imaging experiments of cultured cells and animal tissues, and acquires and analyzes data from cultured cells independently.
Assists in maintaining laboratory devices (e.g. pH meter, PCR, temperature controller, etc.) and able to quickly respond to emergency requirements for the devices.
Assists during imaging experiments, provides assistance for image acquisition and analysis using appropriate software.
Manages laboratory chemical, biological, animal and human tissue inventories, performs ordering, and performs basic science and translational research with cultured human cancer cells, animals and human tissues.
Manages data storage, maintains detailed records of experiments, and helps develop research protocols
Conducts and/or assists with mass spectral, microscopy, flow cytometry, and gene profiling analysis
Other duties as assigned.
Education Required: Bachelor's degree with major course works in one of the basic sciences.
Experience Required: Two years experience in scientific or experimental research work. No experience required with preferred degree.
