MD Anderson Cancer Center Research Assistant 1 - Infectious Diseases in Houston, Texas
The primary purpose of the Clinical Research Assistant I position in the Department of Infectious Diseases, Infection Control and Employee Health is to conduct patient-oriented research, writing manuscripts or grants and conducting clinical trials assisting the faculty investigator. Coordinates all aspects of protocol conduction as well as the administrative duties involved in clinical trials. Provides functions in the area of Infectious Diseases of cancer patients.
Ensures that the conduction of assigned studies is in accordance with Good Clinical Practice, Federal regulations and institutional policies. Develops and maintains systems for the coding, editing, and computer entry of data for assigned research studies focusing on continuous patient follow-up. Designs and maintains management report on the department and institutional databases for various research studies.
Conducts research experiments and laboratory tests associated with specific protocols. To include tasks such as:
Protein expression and purification
Protein drug binding studies
maintain research equipment
Evaluate and analyze data. These will include compiling data and analyzing results
Responsible for recording data in the methods requested.
Assists the faculty investigator in data file preparation and attends data review meetings as required by the department. Prepares specific protocol reports and analysis to aid decisions regarding therapeutic efficacy and to assist in manuscript preparation and grant submissions.
Attends departmental monthly meetings as required. Attends research team meetings.
Other duties as assigned .
Required: Bachelor's degree with major course work in one of the basic sciences.
Preferred: Some experience in clinical, scientific or experimental research work.
