Per Diem Nurse Opportunity in Nursing Education
Ideal candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, current Texas RN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Five years clinical nursing experience in oncology or assigned specialty practice area to include two years of recent teaching experience.
The primary purpose of the Nursing Educator is to serve as a nursing education expert in the design, implementation and evaluation of curriculum to meet the learning needs of nursing staff and visitors to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Provides for the management and provision of patient care. Collaborates with physicians, patient and patient's family to provide care and evaluate outcomes. Communicates with assigned multidisciplinary team and assure continuity of care. Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies. Documents care according to established standards. Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems. Provides continuum of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
Preferred: Master's degree in healthcare related field.
Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN).
Preferred: Certification in oncology or specialty practice area.
Required: Five years clinical nursing experience in oncology or assigned specialty practice area to include two years teaching experience. With preferred degree, three years clinical nursing experience in oncology or assigned specialty practice area to include two years teaching experience.
Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Preferred: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
