Patient Services Coordinator position on our Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit

Clinical Nurse Position in our Pediatric Children's Hospital, is looking for candidates that are flexible, enthusiastic about family and patient-centered care and passionate about pediatrics care. Our 35 bed unit will allow you to care for all pediatrics patients in the following services lines: Pedi oncology, pediatrics surgical, pediatrics stem cell transplant and cellular therapy and young adult stem cell transplant and cellular therapy.

Ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and three years recent work experience. Prefer at least one year of recent patient care experience. Good customer services and communication skills is key as you will be interacting with patients, family members, staff and physicians in person and over the phone. Scheduling patient's visits and physician's appointments.

Must be able to work a combined shift of 8 and 12 hours which includes: 3 pm – 11 pm/11 pm-7 am and 7 pm-7 am and 26 out of 52 weekends per year.

Salary Range: $29,600 - $38,000 - $46,400


Function Coordinates tasks associated with patient services.

Scope Impacts patient care services throughout MDACC.

Essential Job Functions: Greets, provides information and directions to customers. Advises patients and family members of available services. Handles and processes a complex and varied set of documents and situations. Schedules patient visits, physician appointments, diagnostic tests, procedures and treatments.

Communicates pertinent information regarding appointments, scheduling, prepayment and financial counseling to patients, families, physicians, team members and other patient care areas. Interprets and coordinates physician orders. Prepares and maintains appointment templates and/or patient records. Updates relevant patient information in order to maintain an accurate patient record. Reviews and reconciles patient charge documents and collects payments in accordance with established departmental processes and guidelines. Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of patient information. Assists in ensuring a safe environment for patients, co-workers and visitors.

High school diploma or equivalent. Three years of relevant work experience. May substitute additional education for required experience on a one to one basis. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
