MD Anderson Cancer Center Patient Care Technician - Palliative Care (evening/night shift) in Houston, Texas
The Patient Care Technician on the Palliative Care Unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse and impacts patient comfort and outcome of care.
The Palliative Care Unit at MD Anderson provides an approach that improves the quality of life of the patients and their families facing the problems associated with life threating illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification, impeccable assessment and treatment of all physical, psychological and spiritual symptoms. Conventional and complimentary therapies are utilized on the Acute Palliative Care Unit through an Interdisciplinary Team approach to improve the quality of life for both the patient and family through disease process. Intermediate Level Unit with 12 private rooms focused on providing symptom managements for patients that are at the end-of-life.

Salary Range: $28,800 - $36,000 - $43,000
Essential Job Functions:
Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs. Updates and retrieves patient information. Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Acts as part of an assigned care team.
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
Required: Three years of relevant work experience. May substitute additional education for required experience a one to one basis.
Preferred: Direct patient care experience.
Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
