The Patient Care Technician on the Gynecology / Radiation Unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse and directly impacts patient comfort and the outcome of care.
The Gynecology / Radiation Unit is a 25 bed unit, comprised of 2 thirteen bed pods. One pod has lead lined rooms for the care of patients receiving radiation therapy. The other pod cares for patients receiving care for gynecological cancers. The Radiation unit cares for patients of all ages. We have gynecology, thoracic, head and neck, ophthalmology and pediatric patients receiving their radiation treatment on this unit. Gynecological surgical and medical oncology patients receive care on this unit as well. We are also the designated overflow for the Stem Cell Transplant service and some patients with hematological cancers will receive care on this floor too.

Ideal candidate will have three years of work experience; direct patient care experience strongly preferred. Must be able to work 7pm-7am shift and 26 out of 52 weekends per year.
Minimum - $28,800 Midpoint - $36,000 Maximum - $43,200
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs. Updates and retrieves patient information. Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Acts as part of an assigned care team.
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Required: Three years of work experience. May substitute additional education for required experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Nursing assistant or other related experience in a clinical setting.
Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant
Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
