Patient Care Technician position in our Clinical Decision "Observation" Unit

The Clinical Decision "Observation" Unit is a designated, 16-bed medical unit where adult patients in need of additional monitoring, diagnostic evaluation and/or treatment may be monitored while a clinical decision is being made whether to admit the patient for hospitalization or discharge the patient for further care.

Ideal candidate will have three years of work experience; direct patient care experience strongly preferred. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.

Must be able to work a combined shift: 11 am – 11 pm and 26 out of 52 weekends.

Provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse. Impacts patient comfort and outcome of care.

Salary Range: Minimum - $28,800 Midpoint - $36,000 Maximum - $43,200


Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs. Updates and retrieves patient information. Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Acts as part of an assigned care team.


Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: College hours in nursing or healthcare related field.


Required: Three years of work experience. May substitute additional education for required experience on a one to one basis.

Preferred: Nursing assistant or other related experience in a clinical setting


Required: None.

Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant

Other Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources
