MD Anderson Cancer Center Patient Business Services Assosicate - Revenue Billing in Houston, Texas

The primary purpose of the Patient Business Services Associate position is to bill claims within regulatory guidelines. The PBS Associate must ensure that all claims are filed according to timely filing limits and that all follow-up activities are performed timely and accurately.

Key Functions

  • Must have knowledge of the UB-04 and/or HCFA 1500. This includes a working knowledge of modifier logic, HCPCS/CPT codes and revenue line code descriptions.

  • Complete claims on daily Billing Error report

  • Correct billing rejections and update insurance or information as needed

  • Correct commercial and governmental claims for billing

  • Process appeals

  • Work denials

  • Complete daily response & rejection reports

  • Review edits for claim production

  • Required to stay abreast of all billing regulations

  • Must assure all late and unbilled charges are accounted for and resolved.

  • Responsible for notifying management immediately of all rejections and/or problems causing a delay in payments or resolutions of claims. Responsible for notifying Management of any edits or claim corrections needed to expedite payment.

  • Document clear, concise and complete collection notes in system for each account worked. Assure accounts are worked at a high level of quality and completeness by visually proofreading and monitoring work output. This includes performing system analyzation.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION

Required: High school diploma.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Three years of experience in billing, insurance follow-up, or collections in a medical or hospital business office setting.

Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
