Nurse Manager opportunity at the Proton Therapy Center (PTC). The ideal candidate must have a BSN with five years of nursing experience, to include one year of supervisory experience in direct patient care activities.

Key Functions


Supervises the nursing staff to assure efficient patient flow. Coordinates all patient care activities in the assigned services. Matches staffing numbers and experience requirements to the patient census and acuity of the services. Monitors time and attendance, including approving time off. Collaborates with the Division of Nursing in the orientation of new nursing staff to institutional policies and procedures and precepts the nurses in radiation oncology nursing practice. Evaluates, counsels, and mentors all nursing and patient services coordinators in the clinic.


Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of quality improvement initiatives in the department. Collaborates with institutional quality improvement initiatives. Monitors staff competencies. Collaborates in the development and updating of policies and procedures.


Collaborates with the business office by ensuring charge capture of appointments at the point of service. Provides oversight for the triage and coordination of appointments to Radiation Oncology. Oversees par levels and equipment inventories.

Duty/Responsibility Allocations

Supervision of staff, patient flow, and daily clinical operations 50%

Staff education, counseling, and evaluation including update of policies, procedures and competencies documentation. 30%

Fiscal 10%

Attend meetings pertinent to the nurse manager role. 10%

Marginal or Periodic Functions

Assist with the educational activities of external visitors to the different services of the clinic.

Assist in budget preparation by proving input about human resources needs, supplies and equipment needed for the clinic.


Required: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

Preferred: None.


Required: Five years of professional nursing experience, to include one year in cancer care. One year of supervisory experience in direct patient care activities.

Preferred: None


Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN).

Preferred: Certification in oncology or specialty practice area.
