MD Anderson's Radiation Treatment Center is the most comprehensive facility of its kind in the world. Our tools and expertise allow us to offer patients the most effective and advanced radiation treatments available, including new therapies that reduce or eliminate some of the side effects of radiation treatment. Most patients are referred to the Radiation Treatment Center by another MD Anderson care center. We also accept patient self-referrals and external physician referrals. Types of cancers we treat: Breast cancer; Central nervous system tumors; Gastrointestinal cancers; Genitourinary cancers; Gynecologic cancers; Head and neck cancers; Lymphoma and myeloma; Melanoma; Sarcoma; Pediatric cancers; and Thoracic cancers.
Ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of Medical Assistant experience, strong communication, organizational and customer service skills. Setting up procedures is a plus.
SHIFT: Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 5:00, Days.
Minimum - $28,800 Midpoint - $36,000 Maximum - $43,200
Assists nursing staff and providers with routine patient care services including; gathering and collecting information from patients during clinic visits (including taking vital signs, height/weight, pain, current medications, pharmacy information, reason for visit, medical/social history, etc ); filling out appropriate information on FML, disability form and other forms; and maintaining a safe and clean clinic environment.
Communication with patients regarding routine labs/diagnostic imaging for within normal results.
Participates in activities that maintain compliance with regulatory agencies including overseeing that all supplies are stored, organized, labeled and within their expiration date.
Use effective customer service skills to meet the needs of patient family and staff.
Other duties as assigned, such as scheduling and coordination of appointments for radiation oncology related procedures and treatments
Required: High school diploma or equivalent or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
Preferred: One year Medical Assistant experience; preferably in an ambulatory setting. Strong communication, organizational and customer service skills.
Required: Certified or eligible to be certified by one of the following based on Medical Assistant experience or preferred education: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
