The Cancer Prevention Center offers a range of services to help you learn how to reduce your cancer risk or to detect cancer early.
The ideal candidate will be a Certified Medical Assistant with at least one year of experience in a MA role.
Assisting with Nursing and Multidisciplinary Team:
Prepare clinic including: print provider schedule, ready exam rooms for each provider, ensure readiness of the equipment's such as the BP machine, height and weighing scale, gooseneck lamps and speculum warmers, and refill Liquid nitrogen containers.
Room all patients.
Collect data and accurately document in clinic station.
Assist the providers during procedures such as colposcopy, endometrial biopsy and skin biopsy.
Assist with providers during physical examination, as requested, for pelvic and prostate screening.
Follow-up outside reports and imaging.
Prepare necessary documents in order to expedite patient care.
Ensure that the education materials are available in the exam rooms
Quality and Safe Patient Care:
Ensure patient's safety and confidentiality at all times.
Aid in completion of activities of daily living, mobility, transfer and grooming.
Ensure that instruments and supplies are available in the exam rooms at all times.
Available for patient to assist with provider during examination and procedures.
Communicate with the nurse any reported or observed patient care needs.
Maintain a clean, orderly and safer working environment.
Ensure that instruments/equipment/machines needed for patient care are available and in good working order.
Supplies in the work and patient care areas are restocked daily.
Turn on the computers in the morning and log off at the end of the clinic.
Education materials in patient care areas are replenished daily.
High school diploma/equivalent.
Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or US Military medical services training program.
One year of medical assistant experience.
With preferred degree, no experience is required .
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Certified or eligible to be certified by one of the following based on Medical Assistant experience or preferred education:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT)
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
