MD Anderson Cancer Center Manager, Sterile Processing in Houston, Texas

The ideal candidate for the Manager of Sterile Processing will have a bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of experience in sterile processing to include two years of supervisory experience.



Oversee all aspects of sterile processing for the main operating rooms, ambulatory operating rooms, clinics, research areas and Houston Area Locations to include the decontamination, preparation packaging sterilization, sterile storage, distribution, inventory management, orderly work area and supervision of the staff. Monitors and assesses the department's quality assurance, safety, environmental, infection control, performance improvement and regulatory programs to ensure consistency in sterilization policies, procedures and products across the institution and liaisons with institutional partners concerning same.


Manages sterile processing staff including all aspects of the candidate selection process, orientation, coaching and counseling, continuing education and staff in services, scheduling, productivity requirements, and continuous staffing needs on a daily and ongoing basis. Oversees the Sterile Processing budget and provides monthly and quarterly updates on instrumentation repair and replacement expenses. Identifies and implements opportunities for cost reduction and expense control. Collaborates with surgeons, clients, staff, and vendors to forecast future instrumentation and sterilization equipment needs.


Minimum: $73,600 – Midpoint: $92,000 – Maximum: $110,400


Required: Bachelor's degree in Allied Health or related field.

Preferred: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.


Required: Five years of experience in sterile processing in a large operating room environment to include two years of supervisory experience.

Preferred: Operating room experience and/or healthcare leadership.
