Manager, Occupational Health opportunity in Employee Health & Well-Being

The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, TX RN License and six years of clinical nursing experience in an adult ambulatory setting to include three years nursing supervisory/management experience. Prefer candidates with experience in occupational health nursing and/or case management and certifications in Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or Certified Case Manager (CCM).

SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Occupational Health Manager position is to provide management of all occupational health nursing staff, management of the institutional workers' compensation program and coordinate institutional accreditations. This position will serve as Human Resources Liaison for reduced paid leave (RPL) and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) requests, in addition to interfacing with Recruitment and Onboarding.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Occupational Health Nursing Supervision and Clinical Activities

Provides management of occupational health nursing staff in Houston and Science Park to include orientation, training, performance evaluations, and delegating work and scheduling. Participates in the blood borne pathogens exposure pager rotation, provides clinic coverage for unscheduled patients (walk-ins), and other occupational health nursing duties as assigned

Occupational Health Program Management:

•Provides continuous quality improvement assessments for EHWB OHN projects, identifies process breakdowns, and strives to maintain "best practice" standards.

•Researches and collaborates with Medical Director, EHWB staff and other stake-holders to design, implement and manage new Occ Health programs regarding new evidence-based occupational health initiatives including proposal of new concepts, new projects and process improvement, incorporating/utilizing Cority/EPIC and other resources to ensure efficiencies and positive outcomes/results.

Infection Control

•Collaborates with Infection Control, EH&WB Medical Director and other stakeholders to effectively manage infectious disease exposures involving employees and provides appropriate counseling and follow-up for exposed employees.

•Identifies, creates and manages employee infection control activities including surveillance and prevention utilizing available resources, including Cority and EPIC.

•Aids in meeting regulatory and other compliance requirements (CMS, Joint Commission, etc.) and institutional policy review.

WCI Case Management: Provides clinical and administrative oversight in collaboration with EH&WB Medical Director to EH&WB staff managing the institutional Workers' Compensation Insurance (WCI) program. Collaborates with the Third Party Administrator (TPA), WCI health care network/, and the UT System WCI- Office of Risk Management as indicated. .

Human Resources Liaison: Serves as clinical reviewer/consultant in collaboration with EH&WB Medical Director as indicated for complex ADAAA and Reduced Pay Leave (RPL) cases. HR liaison for EH&WB services Represents department at Recruitment-Onboarding meetings.

Other duties as assigned

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Preferred Education: Master's degree in Nursing or related field

Required License/Certifications: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN)

Preferred Certification: One of the following:

-Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN)

-Certified Case Manager (CCM)

Experience: Six years of clinical nursing experience in an adult ambulatory setting to include three years nursing supervisory/management experience.

Preferred Experience: Occupational health nursing and/or case management experience.
