MD Anderson Cancer Center Maintenance Technician - Fac Mgt RAF South Campus in Houston, Texas

Ideal candidate will have a general refrigeration knowledge and basic knowledge of plumbing.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm

The primary purpose of a Maintenance Technician is to provide demonstrated sub journeyman-level work in a designated craft(s). Impacts routine maintenance and repairs of all mechanical equipment, systems, buildings and grounds.


Under direct supervision performs routine and preventative maintenance on various equipment, buildings and utility systems using one or more craft trade skills. Maintains records of materials, jobs, and other pertinent information.


Maintain an Efficient Response to Work Orders and Reduce/Balance Workload for Other Shops

  • Respond to critical equipment alarms. E.g.: -80 Ultra low, -20c/-30c Freezers, 4c Refrigerators, LN2 Freezers and incubators.

  • Assist KPL technicians with plumbing stoppages, leaks, etc.

  • Close watch FOC Pri 1 & 2 dispatch calls via hallway monitor.

  • Requisition parts and materials using Stock Issue forms to help maintain O&M Warehouse inventory.

  • Respond to power outages, client critical and facility equipment alarms, code reds, leaks, floods, etc.

  • Utilize the CMMS System (Mainsaver) to appropriately document all work order activities.

  • Work with the MD Anderson BAS Team to troubleshoot any issues and make repairs.

Increase Customer Focus and Satisfaction

  • Quickly respond to Client "Dispatch" work order requests for a variety of tasks.

  • Respond to customer service requests. Talk to Customers and keep them informed on job status.

  • Requisition parts and materials needed to conduct the daily activities.

  • Completes all required paperwork – timesheets, activity logs, etc.

Maintain Facility Appearance, Functionality and Safety

  • Conduct daily Alarm Log Reviews, via Apogee, checking for client critical alarms.

  • Visually inspect equipment that is in alarm and/or is not within set temperature parameters.

  • Basic troubleshooting of BAS critical alarm connections.

  • Provides back-up support for the other crafts as needed.

  • Perform specific tasks to assist other shops such as fire watch, loading and unloading equipment, lifting heavy loads, etc.

  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job.

    Other duties as assigned

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Two years experience in one or more crafts (i.e. - plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, instrumentation).

Salary Range: $32,000 - $40,000 - $48,000
