The primary purpose of the Lead Technician position is to maintain an area of expertise providing technical assistance and structure to the area of responsibility. To provide scheduling of the technical staff and input to the Charge Pharmacists to adjust schedules based upon absences, emergency staffing and vacancies. To provide training of the technical staff in the area of responsibility and to assist with functions related to the dispensing and delivery of medication and equipment from pharmacy.
Provide area supervision by enforcing appropriate medication preparation and delivery procedures, by interviewing, training, and assessing new staff, and by scheduling staff appropriately.
Help develop, implement, and support special projects throughout the institution as the technical expert in area of responsibility.
Complete all assigned quality assurance and productivity reports including record keeping and appropriate follow up.
Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times in compliance with all laws and regulations.
Maintain inventory security within area and monitor the appropriate use of all institutional resources.
Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years experience at M.D. Anderson as a Pharmacy Technician or four years as a Pharmacy Technician in a comparable institutional setting.
License/Certification R equired:
Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
Current Certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
ACPE approved IV (sterile products) certification
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
