To query, clean, analyze, visualize, and interpret MelCore operational data including research biospecimen repository informatics, and support the Program Director, Melanoma Informatics, to maintain, quality control, expand, and optimize clinical research database infrastructure.
Compiles, analyzes, and reports on MelCore laboratory data.
Utilizing data captured in the MelCore database and other institutional database resources; creates, maintains, and optimizes reports to multiple stakeholders on biospecimen collection, processing, transaction, and analysis. Requires use of query tools (SAS, SQL, or other), statistical analysis software (SAS, SPSS, R, Excel, or other), and visualization software (Tableau, Excel, or other) to build and update reports as directed by program leadership.
Creates and modifies database views to support multi-disciplinary melanoma research projects.
In collaboration with clinical research faculty and staff, and with direction from leadership, creates novel, and maintains existing database views to generate analysis-ready datasets and reports. Requires use of query tools (SAS, SQL, or other), statistical analysis software (SAS, SPSS, R, Excel, or other), and visualization software (Tableau, Excel, or other) to build and update reports as directed by program leadership.
Supports and leads MelCore database quality assurance, and application development projects.
MelCore quality assurance is a team effort and is on-going. The candidate will support and lead the team on specific projects to quality assure retrospective data, and setup automated, prospective, quality-control processes and workflows that engage the MelCore data and lab teams. Often during (software) MelCore database application development; informatics/analyst resources are essential to data migration, QA/QC as per above, and overall user acceptance testing (UAT). The candidate will support each of these steps under direction of Prog, Dir, Melanoma Informatics.
Supports on-going administration of the MelCore database for key required institutional business processes, application development, and compliance
Supports the Prog Dir, Melanoma Informatics to co-manage MelCore database-related business, development, and compliance according to MD Anderson policies and procedures. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, team-building, and cross-department collaboration
Participates in institutional data and other working groups related to MelCore and Melanoma Informatics program
Attends and participates in working groups, user groups, and committee meetings related to institutional informatics and analytics. Will share MelCore/team progress/updates/feedback with external groups and bring back information/solutions/suggestions for internal team review/discussion/implementation.
Bachelor's degree in related field.
Five years of related business, finance, project/process management experience.
SAS programming proficiency,
Health-related research database experience.
