MD Anderson Cancer Center Coordinator, Patient Services - Behavioral Research Treatment Center in Houston, Texas

Coordinates tasks associated with patient and participant services. Impacts patient and participant care services throughout MDACC.

The hours for this position Monday - Thursday 9:00 am - 6:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. If needed will be required to arrive 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Front Desk Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist customers, patients and participants in a polite and timely manner. Notify teams of patient/participant arrival. Ensure patients/participants are greeted by teams, within 15 minutes of their appointment time, follow-up with teams not in compliance. Coordinate and allocate BRTC space to maximize utilization and meet customer needs. Answer phone lines. Assist internal and external callers. Triage calls as needed. Print, assemble and mail TTP reminder letters. As specified on orders, schedule appointments in Meeting Room Manager and EPIC for the Tobacco Treatment Program (TTP) and Body Image Therapy Service (BITS). Schedule new consults for the Body Imager Therapy Service, notify BITS clinicians of new consults and send patient information to appropriate FCC personnel for clearance. Issue PNPs/MRNs for teams, consent and register participants/patients. Perform other related duties as requested. Maintain patient/participant confidentiality at all times.

2. BRTC Utilization Data:

  • Compare TTP and BITS appointments scheduled in EPIC with those scheduled in Meeting Room Manager, to ensure all appointments have been correctly captured in MRM. Verify walk-in and omitted appointments have been correctly entered and arrived in Meeting Room Manager. Review and compare appointments scheduled in Meeting Room Manager with actual space and time used by teams. Review Meeting Room Manager daily, to ensure appointment status has been correctly recorded.

3. Other Duties:

  • Thoroughly perform opening and/or closing duties as assigned. Report maintenance issues to BRTC Manager or via Facilities Reporting Tool on-line. Report issues to BRTC manager that may impact operations. Demonstrate flexibility in work schedules and in other requests to ensure adequate BRTC front desk coverage, research and TTP support, at all times. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Three years of relevant work experience. May substitute additional education for required experience on a one to one basis.

Preferred: Exceptional customer service experience.

OTHER:

Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
