Pediatrics Clinical Nurse Opportunities with MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital , in Houston, TX. We have opportunities in our Pediatrics and Pedi Intensive Care Services Units.

We are looking for nurses that are flexible, enthusiastic about family and patient-centered care and passionate about pediatrics care. Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, TX RN license and one year of recent pediatrics, pediatric hematology/oncology or PICU experience.

Our 35 bed Pediatrics unit will allow you to care for all pediatrics patients in the following services lines: Pedi oncology, pediatrics surgical, pediatrics stem cell transplant and cellular therapy and young adult stem cell transplant and cellular therapy.

Shift: 7 pm – 7 am and 26 out of 52 weekends per year.

Salary Range: Minimum $56,000 – Mid-Point $78,500 – Maximum $110,000

SUMMARY:

Function: Manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. Scope: Impacts quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area. Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team. Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies. Participates in data collection for current studies. Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies. Documents care according to established standards. Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems. Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services. Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights. Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

EDUCATION:

Required: Graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing

Preferred: Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)

EXPERIENCE: 12 months recent RN experience in pediatrics, pediatric hematology/oncology or PICU experience.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Required: Current State of Texas Professional RN license (RN).

All clinical nurses with less than one year registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. Foreign trained nurses who have not practiced nursing as an RN in the United States for at least one year will also be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Preferred: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
