MD Anderson Cancer Center Clinical Nurse, Outpatient - Radiation Oncology in Houston, Texas

Clinical Nurse, Outpatient opportunity in Radiation Oncology (Gamma Knife procedural area). The ideal candidate will have at least two years of previous or recent oncology. Preferred candidate will have procedural experience and be a high-performer with the ability to demonstrate initiative, high-level critical thinking, and professionalism.

Shift is typically Monday – Friday 6:00am – 2:30pm will be required to occasionally work 7:00am – 4:30pm based on the needs of the department.

The primary purpose of the Clinical Nurse is to positively affect patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting evidence based direct patient care across the continuum of care for patients receiving radiation therapy, including brachytherapy. The highest quality of patient care and the appropriate use of resources are achieved in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Salary Range:

Minimum - $56,000 Midpoint - $78,500 Maximum - $110,000

Service Orientation: Provide service to our customers, including patients, patient caregivers, referring physicians and each other, in a reliable, responsive, safe, friendly and courteous manner.


Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Preferred: Bachelors of Science in Nursing.


Required: None.

Preferred: Two years of previous or recent oncology.


Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).

Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Preferred: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area. Certification in oncology or specialty practice area.


Patient care environment.

All clinical nurses with less than one year registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. Foreign trained nurses who have not practiced nursing as an RN in the United States for at least one year will also be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
