MD Anderson Cancer Center Chief Quality Officer in Houston, Texas

The Chief Quality Officer (CQO) contributes to the institutional goal of delivering the highest quality, best patient experience and the safest care for patients of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. This position establishes and executes the institution's strategic plan around quality and safety by leading the design, development and implementation of quality initiatives and strategies which includes the institution's focus on High Reliability.

TheChief Quality Officer works in a dyad relationship with the Chief Administrative Quality Officer and serves as the champion and spokesperson for quality and safety. W orks collaboratively with clinical and executive leadership to lead and guide strategic/tactical planning efforts, and to foster/reinforce a sustainable quality/safety-aware culture that proactively seeks opportunities for performance improvement designed to continually raise the bar on quality and experience. Acts as a positive change agent, respecting the culture while challenging the status quo.

The CQO demonstrates organizational responsibility through institutional-minded decision-making and through support and accountability for ongoing self and team personal development.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

MD / DO licensed, or eligible to be licensed in the State of Texas

Preferred: Master's degree in Healthcare Administration or other healthcare-related discipline

Experience:

Ten years of progressive leadership experience in academic healthcare, to include at least five years in quality improvement, healthcare systems improvement, and knowledge of federal and state regulations and accreditation standards.

Additional requirements:

  • Strong healthcare business acumen with the ability to lead and partner around a vision for outstanding healthcare delivery.

  • Highly-effective leader with strong EQ, drive, commitment to personal leadership development and high standards of professionalism.

  • Experience in attracting, developing and retaining leadership team members with a personal commitment to diversity and success in managing organization/cultural change.
