MD Anderson Cancer Center Animator - Senior Communications Designer in Houston, Texas
The Senior Communications Animation Designer, reporting to the program director of Creative Communications, is responsible for conceptualizing, designing and executing high-quality illustrations, motion graphics, infographics, and interactive and multimedia visual solutions to promote MD Anderson programs, using independent planning and problem-solving skills. The main focus of this position is design and animation support for Strategic Communications' social media channels, video and web content needs, developing visual solutions that maintain MD Anderson's brand and visual identity.
The job requires excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of productivity, ensuring that multiple jobs on tight deadlines are handled efficiently and on time. Must possess the ability to work independently but also to take creative direction and collaborate as part of a team. Must have strong experience using Adobe After Effects. Experience with Maya is a plus. In-house experience with brand standards is preferred.
Graphic illustration and animation production in support of organizational communication initiatives:
Attends planning meetings, develops creative concepts and storyboards/scripts, illustrates/designs, edits and produces promotional and educational motion graphics for use on social media platforms, websites and in videos.
Keeps up with format requirements and best practices for digital communications channels and customizes animations for varying platforms and audiences, including cancer patients and caregivers, healthy public, donors and employees and volunteers.
As time/work allows, supports design requests for professional digital projects from a variety of audiences across the institution.
Consults with clients and delivers turn-key professional designs that strictly adhere to MD Anderson's visual identity.
Strategic brand support and counseling:
Possesses thorough knowledge of MD Anderson brand policies and standards.
Routinely attends key customer meetings and is available for consultation, as needed.
Required: Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field.
Required: Five years of experience in graphic design, public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field.
May substitute required degree with additional years of equivalent experience or education on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Majority of experience working in animation.
