The ideal candidate will be an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with a minimum two years of experience.


Advanced Practice Providers in the critical care unit are responsible for:

Conduct comprehensive patient history and physicals; develop a treatment plan.

Evaluate patient outcomes in coordination with attending physicians.

Get rounding reports for all Attendings when rotating on the Silver Team.

Calculate the SOFA score and reporting it to the primary teams daily.

Enter Apache scores for their patients at the end of 24 hours post admission.

Dictate patient care notes within 24 hours.

Submit appropriate charges within 24 hours.


Actively participate in Class III procedures.

Dictate procedure notes within 24 hours.

Submit appropriate charges within 24 hours.

Keep a weekly log of all procedures performed.

Other duties as assigned:

Assist Attendings with completing M&M slips.

Take the ICU Discharge Data Report and M&M slips to morning rounds.

Turn in the completed slips to the department’s Qualify & Safety Officer each week.


Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice. May be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Texas State Board of Nursing prior to 1/1/2003. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.


Required: None

Preferred: Minimum of two years in ACNP role.
