Clinical Trial Financial Management

Ensures timeliness and accuracy in all clinical trial financial payments and monitoring, and communicates effectively with teams and PIs if any concerns arise. Ensures all financial controls and audited best practices are followed and provides suggestions on how to improve processes. Keeps apprised of latest financial system reports and clinical research finance initiatives. Provide post award support for clinical trial studies including, but not limited to, maintaining overall income tracking spreadsheet for clinical trials, monitoring cash balances, reconciliation for close-out requests and generating ePAF requests for clinical research personnel. Collaborates with Protocol Administration Team in identifying payment milestones associated with research contracts, and works with Grants and Contracts to prepare invoices to send to Sponsors based off meeting study milestones, invoiceables, etc. Submit documentation to department procurement team to generate purchase orders for activities related to clinical research studies as assigned. Initiate IDTs for payment of internal research related invoices


Develops and maintains procedures for the clinical research finance reconciliation and review and confirmation processes. Performs monthly reconciliation of departmental funds including CRFM, RFM, EFM, PRS Development fund, Chairman’s fund, and department M&O. Participates in institutional audits and statistical sample reconciliation to ensure compliance and successful performance. Reviews pro-card reconciliations, ensures pro-card deadlines are met and expenses are reallocated appropriately with review and approval by cardholder and cardholder’s supervisor

Report Preparation

Responsible for providing monthly financial metrics to the Research Administration Committee and necessary reports for the financial management team meetings. Assist finance team in monthly faculty financial reports.


Minimum: $52,000 – Midpoint: $65,000 – Maximum: $78,000


Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field.


Required: Two years of accountant experience required with a Bachelor's in Business Administration or related field. One year of accountant experience required with a Bachelor's in Accounting. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
