MD Anderson Cancer Center Accountant I - Bioinformatics & Comp Biology in Houston, Texas

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
* Reconciles all revenue and non-personnel operating expenses, transfers, IDTs, & corrections between independent documentation, General Ledger system, and FileMaker Pro.
Creates and maintains spreadsheets:
* Creates and maintains spreadsheets such as an ePAF log and personnel funding budget, to assist in the analysis of revenue and expenses and to monitor activity. Initiates contact with lab and departmental personnel, other departmental representatives, and other agencies regarding discrepancies. Follows up on all discrepancies/adjustments to ensure corrections are posted to the appropriate company center. Assists with the setup of new non-grant company centers.
Maintains record filing systems:
* Provides monthly reconciliations via FileMaker Pro and Statistical Samples for management review and approval. Prepares and submits Inter-Departmental Transfers. Financial reporting: Query, format, and distribute monthly financial reports including the Free Balance report and a list of non-personnel expenses for PIs.
Other duties as assigned.
Billing and Payment Requests:
* Processes billing for the Metabolomics core. Process Miscellaneous Payment requests.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related.
Required: One year of experience required with degree in Business Administration or related field. With a degree in Accounting, no experience is required. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Experience in healthcare.
